*They* may have decided they don't like the classic interface, but why do they have to be so boorish and rude to the people who do? As this patch demonstrates, it's not like it's a huge amount of code. Endless and largely meaningless guff about why it's not the default any more, but nowhere in all their blah is there the slightest justification for refusing to include it *as a user-selectable option*. The Gimp developers' attitude on this (as seen on the bug report page linked in Tomek's review) really sucks - arrogant, self-contradictory and irrational. And in case anyone's wondering, the patch for 2.7.4 goes straight in to the source for Gimp 2.8.2 in Debian wheezy, no errors, no messing, and it works.
